I was a teenager in 1981 when Mind Your Language was aired in Srilanka. I remember watching MYL then with my parents and my family and also the neighbours (TV was introduced to Srilanka in 1979 and many couldn't afford to buy one). We all thought it was the most amazing show then... many years later and the show still is the most amazing ever made! Congratulations to you Sir on your excellent and distinguished career. You brought much joy to all of us and we are proud and indebted to you. |

Sir Albert. I was born in 1985 and I have watched "Mind your Language" in the last year (2007-08). I recently bought the whole series. Its my favorite television series. I donno but it has become an every day ritual to watch at least an episode. My parents are Orthodox Brahmin (me too), even they keep laughing all the time when I play it.

The most popular comedy show on Sri Lankan TV was Mind Your Language. When I was working for Sri Lankan TV in 1981, I used to watch the tape over and over again many times before it went to broadcast.
I still have a set of MYL and I watch them when I am stressed up. It is a good medicine for those who are under pressure!

After seeing your show Mind Your Language for the second time on the channel Zee Cafe, I decided to find out what the cast of the show was up to these days and came across your website. While some people think your show created stereotypes, I think they really didn't offend anyone, which is amply attested to by the fact that your show is famous in India, Pakistan, and possibly in all countries where it has been aired. And I find many shows
today seem to be politically correct, yet manage to be patronising to foreigners. I feel the light-hearted humour of your show must have helped ease xenophobic feelings among people from different cultural backgrounds. I was sad on finding out about the death of Barry Evans. Ali and Ranjeet did a wonderful job of entertaining us. I wish you success for the future. And God willing, I shall visit Sri Lanka one day. |

I just returned from a 2 week trip to India, where I was delighted to see MYL still being shown twice a night on Z-Cafe in Bangalore - one of the premier English channels.
It brought back a flood of memories from watching the show as a child - and I still laughed just as hard at all the performances - most especially yours !
A thousand apologies, but until I discovered this website I had not realised your great body of other work in so many other famous productions - I guess testimony to your ability as an actor to perform such a wide variety of roles!

If there is one thing I can say, the real Albert Moses truly looks more like Clark Gable, (or more closely to Omar Sharif) than the real Ranjit "A 1000 apologies" Singh of Mind Your Language. We are having re-runs of Mind your Language here in india for some time now, and no matter how many times it is repeated, i cant resist myself from seeing it!
I am a turbaned Sikh and loved your performance to put it in mild words. Lot of people have little knowledge about sikhs, in that regard it was a momentous and a historical role to say the least. I hate being a repeat, but you guys must put up a website on the lines of what "Happy Days" group has done.

I don't know where to start,as one of the funniest and greatest TV shows in history, "Mind Your Language", has been a family favorite for the past 30 years. This is a show that will remain timeless and immortal. New generations are growing up enjoying this venerable British show. Though, in this age of political incorrectness when TV refuses to air certain shows, thank God that we have DVDs. We acquired the first series of DVDs recently. Who needs the TV stations anymore? I only wish there were more episodes and that Barry and Dino Shafeek (and anyone else from the cast) were still with us.
A thousand laughters is what we the fans have gotten, and thousands more. May you continue to prosper and God bless you!

When I started working at a new school, the first thing one of my collegues said to me was "A Thousand Apologies".
I happened to have the exact same name as your character Ranjeet Singh in Mind Your Language down to the spelling!
I found nothing offensive in the series and in fact I think you were one of the main reasons for my watching the show! It was a real laugh then. And now and then I bring out the faded video tape to rewatch the episodes I recorded.
Thanks Albert. Its a great pity I never got to see the Series 4 episodes that you produced.

A few years ago I purchased the DVD of The Man Who Would Be King. A recent DVD rental of 'Mind Your Language' prompted a web-search to this site, where it is fascinating to learn of your extensive film and writing career.
Much of US television and film is from Hollywood and we miss out on alot, save for a few companies that provide foreign DVD rentals for US Region 1. I was able to find one of these companies and over the past year have been renting mostly foreign films and televison. I must honestly say, prior to this, I only knew of your work in The Man Who Would Be King. The delightful British television comedy DVD opened the door to finding more of your films and writings, thanks to this website.
